Biomimetic architecture is a branch of the new science of biomimicry defined and popularized by Janine Benyus in her book Biomimicry: Innovation Inspired by Nature. Living beings have adapted to a constantly changing environment during evolution through mutation, recombination, and selection. Similarly, biomimetic architecture seeks solutions for building sustainability present in nature, not only by replicating their natural forms, but also by understanding the rules governing those forms. The 21st century has seen a ubiquitous waste of energy due to inefficient building designs, in addition to the over-utilization of energy during the operational phase of its life cycle. In parallel, recent advancements in fabrication techniques, computational imaging, and simulation tools have opened up new possibilities to mimic nature across different architectural scales. Biomimetic architecture is one of these multi-disciplinary approaches to sustainable design that follows a set of principles rather than stylistic codes, going beyond using nature as inspiration for the aesthetic components of built form, but instead seeking to use nature to solve problems of the building's functioning and saving energy.
An overview of the present state of research in the relatively young scientific field of biomimetics shows the potential of this approach. The new discipline aims at innovation by making use of the subtle systems and solutions in nature which have evolved over millions of years. Approaches taken to transfer nature's principles to architecture have provided successful developments. The new approach presented in this book transfers the abstract concept of life onto the built environment. Strategic search for life's criteria in architecture delivers a new view of architectural achievements and makes visible the innovative potential, although that has not yet been exploited. A selection of case studies illustrates the diversity of possible starting points: from vernacular architecture to space exploration.

In the article below we provide you architecture thesis abstract examples a sample of acknowledgement for bachelor or undergraduate thesis. Consequently, biomimetic architecture expands its cognitive range and creates sustainable buildings, able to cope with problems that plague the modern world, such as climate change and overpopulation. Precisely what are recommendations for any research question across the subject. Architecture thesis abstract examples. Different approaches for applying Biomimicry in design Biomimicry, is a growing research field in architecture and engineering as, it offers new and inspirational solutions Gehan A. Currently the integration of biomimicry principles in the field of architecture appears to often be solely aesthetic or the result of a random, unrepeatable process. The Mix of biomimicry in a built atmosphere design.

Therefore, architects should bring innovative solutions for energy efficient buildings, and the best tutor to learn from how to design such buildings is our great mentor Nature, through the innovative approach of biomimetic. Building skin as subcategory of biomimetic that frames the whole outside of the building, as the first line of defense for the building against external influences that will interact with all environmental aspects like living organisms.
